One of our favourite destinations when we arrive in the Yucatan, is Isla Holbox, known for its white sandy beaches, clear water, and laid-back island attitude. For any of you considering visiting Isla Holbo, we wanted to give our recommendations for the best hotels there. We’ve stayed in various lovely Holbox Hotels as a couple and with two small children.
Isla Holbox: Why Stay Here?
We almost promise that once you visit Isla Holbox, you won’t want to leave anytime soon! The bustling Yucatan resort towns are a world away from Holbox, an unspoiled island paradise. We had a wonderful few days on the island, lounging on the beaches and taking in everything the island offers. Furthermore, getting to Holbox from the Yucatan requires effort, making day trips less feasible. You can travel at Caribe Shuttle transport services to reach your hotel.
Holbox’s top hotel on the beach
In Holbox, there is nothing better than waking up in front of the ocean, and these beachfront hotels are ideal:
The Flamingo Villa
On our most recent vacation to Isla Holbox, we stayed here. The lovely beachfront hotel known as Villa Flamingos sits at the far end of Holbox Beach. If you prefer swimming in the ocean, an outdoor pool is directly accessible from the hotel. The direct access to the secluded beach was a hit with our kids, and we enjoyed getting away from the bustle of Holbox Center. A nice delight is the rooms with ocean views.
House Caracol
It can be found on Holbox Island’s north coast at Playa Norte Beach. It has free Wi-Fi, air-conditioned lodging, and a private beach area with Balinese beds and loungers. Each chic Villa Caracol suite has a private bathroom, cable TV, and an excellent contemporary interior design. A portion of the Yum Commodity Murabaha Nature Reserve, where rare birds, sea turtles, dolphins, and whale sharks can be found, is Holbox. Visitors can use the kayaks at Villa Caracol to tour the island and water. A beach club with a restaurant and bar is open from 10:00 until midnight, and breakfast is served from 8:30 until 11:00 a.m. The Holbox Ferry Terminal, which provides regular links to Chiquilá and whale shark-watching expeditions, is only 5 minute drive from Villa Caracol.
Holbox’s Top Hotel
Our top choice for hotels near Holbox is Casa Las Tortugas, which boasts a convenient location, lovely accommodations, and green surroundings.
House of Tortugas
Casa las Tortugas, a relative’s boutique hotel with gorgeous decor, rooms with palapa roofs, and a prime beachside position, is our favourite Holbox lodging. We adore the setting’s bohemian feel and ability to maintain true to its Holbox roots while having only 24 rooms. The wellness options are outstanding, as are the cuisine and beverages.
This upscale hotel
It is situated in front of the sea on the isolated island of Isla Holbox. The hotel features kayaks, paddle boats, a spa, and ocean views. The Las Nubes de Holbox accommodations have balconies and air conditioning. Each lodging option also has a private bathroom with a shower.
Conclusion
A few places to stay have ocean views. The amenities include hair dryers, safe deposit boxes, and plush bathrobes. A boat tour of the island can be arranged for visitors at Las Nubes de Holbox, as can snorkelling in Cabo Catoche. The Orquidea Spa provides massage treatments. The El Sabor de las Nubes cafe in Las Nubes de Holbox serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
